Today we had class outside around a fire. We were reinforcing knowledge of chemical and physical changes. We roasted marshmallows as a chemical change. We also had hot chocolate to show thermal energy moving from warmer matter (hot chocolate) to cooler matter (our hands). Students each brought an example of a chemical or physical change or could bring a density column. We had a great day!
Today students are doing a lab to see if/how much friction increases hand temperature. Students please remember to bring either an example of a chemical change, a physical change, or a density column tomorrow.
Students took notes on thermal energy and endo and exothermic reactions.
Today students got to do a chemical reaction in a bag using calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and red phenol. Following the reaction the students answered questions about the reaction.
Today students took physical and chemical change notes and watched a property change brain pop.
Today students learned more about physical and chemical properties and took notes on this topic. The notes are attached.
Today students will finishing the lab we started on Tuesday. Next students will learn more about physical and chemical properties.
Today our team has a field trip to Big Sky Bible camp for team building.
Today students set up and started a lab to see how size affects the density of certain objects.
