Today we revisited the conservation of mass and learned how to balance equations.
Today students took notes on covalent bonds and read pages 31-35 in the textbook. Notes are attached below.
Today students did practice problems on writing ionic compounds and naming them.
Today students added to their notes from yesterday and practiced writing ionic compounds and naming them. The notes are below:
Chemical formula: a combination of symbols that shows the ratio of elements in a compound. MgCl2 ; 1-Mg 2-Cl Subscript: tells you how many there are of that specific element in the compound. Ex: MgCl2 means there are 1 -Mg and 2- Cl The name of the positive ion (cation) comes first followed by the name of the negative ion (anion). If the negative ion is a single element the ending changes to -ide. Ex: NaCl : Sodium chloride Today students finished questions from yesterday. Next, students began taking notes on Chemical Bonds. The notes for today are attached below.
Today students completed questions pertaining to the periodic table and what we have learned. Most of the questions are in the textbook. P. 113 & 114 (1-3, 7-10, 13 & 14, 18-20) P. 115 (1-5)
Today students went over Periodic Table basics to ensure they understood the concepts related to the assignment. Then, students took notes on metals, nonmetals and metalloids. The notes are attached below.
