Today we began prep for our next experiment, which is the Oreo Lab. Students wrote APK, the question and a hypothesis for the lab. The question in this lab is: Do double stuf(f) Oreos really have double the stuf(f)? Students also practiced using triple beam balances to weight items. Students should be sure to dress appropriately for the field trip we have on Monday, October 1st to Glacier National Park for the day. In case you need another permission slip one is attached below.

Attached below is the permission slip for the field trip to Glacier National Park, which will be Monday, October 1st.
Today we had a Team Breakfast and then participated in Fall Fun Day. What a fun and gorgeous day!
Today we started a new inquiry to see if Team Explore students prefer Dum Dums or Smarties. We completed #1-5 of the scientific method. We also talked a little about our upcoming field trip to Glacier National Park, which will be Monday, October 1st.
Today we gathered tootsie pop lab data and completed the analyze data and conclusion section.
Today: The tootsie pop lab. We answered the question: How many licks does it take to reach the center of a tootsie pop?
Today we practiced recording data and making a graph to show the data. We also began setting up our notebooks for the lab tomorrow: The tootsie pop lab.
Today students reviewed the different variables that can be present in a scientific experiment. Then they practiced identifying those variables.
Today I did a demonstration for the students that shows how surface tension works and can be broken by soap. Then students followed the procedure to see what happens when you add soap to milk. The focus was following the procedure.
Today students worked at stations putting pieces from the wheel of logic in order. They also practiced following procedure from another student and giving directions to another student for them to follow. This helped them realize they need to be specific when giving directions.
