Today we made slime and camouflaged butterflies so that they may "live" in our classroom environment.
The recipe for the slime is as follows: Dissolve 1/2 tablespoon of borax in 1/2 cup water to make "borax solution" 1. Add 15 mL of water to the glue and stir to mix well. 2. Add drops of food coloring to achieve desired color and stir it up until mixed. 3. Add 3 or 4 teaspoons of the Borax solution and stir well. Watch the slime form! (if it is still too watery add more borax solution 4. After the slime forms let it sit for about 30 seconds and then pull it off of your stirring device. 5. Add a little bit of lotion to the slime. Tip: Keep your slime in a tightly closed plastic bag when you are not playing with it.

Today students watched a video explaining how a starfish can be a keystone species (8 minutes, not the whole video- linked below). Next students Analyzed data for the rise and fall of moose and wolf population over time. (I will attach the graph and questions). After that students learned about symbiotic relationships (I will attach the notes). Last, we watched a Brain Pop on symbiosis.
Today students are learning about the interactions among living things. We are reading pages 24-29 in the textbook, taking notes and watching a video. I am attaching a note guide for these pages (as well as page 30 & 31) and the video we watched.
Today students are learning more about studying populations. During the activity we are doing students will calculate the estimated total population of turtles and graph their results. Below I have attached how the graph should be set up. Have a great weekend!
Today students finished presenting their biomes and learned about populations and limiting factors. Notes taken today are attached below as well as a data table we will use for an activity tomorrow.
Today students continued working on their Biome Projects. Presentations are tomorrow.
Today students continued work on their biome project. We will have a little bit of time tomorrow to finish the presentation and will begin presentations. Presentations will continue on Wednesday.
Today students learned about the expectations for the biome project. After that students had time to work with their partner(s) and plan on who is responsible for specific parts of the project. Most of this work can be found in my google classroom. Have a great long weekend! We will continue working on the project on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Today we watched the Brain Pop on Land biomes. Next students read the section in the book on land biomes, pages 58-65. Last students did an activity to assess their understanding of producers, consumers and decomposers. The sheet is attached below as well as an example to show how it should be set up.
