Students did a lab showing double displacement reactions. In each reaction a precipitate formed, which is evidence of a chemical reaction.
Today students will have time to finish the questions from the boiling point of water lab. Then students watched: Bill Nye: "States of matter" video. Boiling point of water questions: 1. Describe what happens to the temperature of the liquid when it reaches the boiling point. 2. Why can’t a liquid get any hotter than its boiling point? 3. What state of matter is the liquid changing into in this lab? 4.Why is the boiling point different here than at sea level? 5.Look at your graph. Circle which time frame on your graph shows an increase in energy. Today students did a boiling point of water lab. The information and findings are attached below.
Today students watched a video. Uranium: Chasing the dragon's tail.
Today students took notes on the states of matter and watched the states of matter brainpop.
Today students have time to finish their mystery powder lab. After that we are looking at how salt lowers the freezing point of water. Along with this, we are looking at how this helps when making ice cream. Last, students have time to finish their states of matter Phet simulation if needed.
